Media art orientated researches in interdisciplinary fields
Research
Since 2011 I started lecturing at Tsinghua University, Information Art & Design Dept.
and teach interdisciplinary courses and conduct researches driven by new media art
- research on programmable modular camera
Using a projector with an auto-controlled shutter, Smart Flash actively perceives the scene and intervenes in it by “flashing” simulated effects created by the photographer to the real world. The effect preference setting can be stored as a certain “style” that is digitally sharable. Other users can download any of those “styles” to their own Active Style Camera and apply to different subjects. (read more)
- networked performance based on 3d sound effect
The research uses 3 dimensional sounds to create a virtual stages, on which, online audiences and performers are located with specific coordinates. Each audience can virtually move around in the sound-scape, interact with the scene and experience the development of the story. (read more)
Haptic Interaction
- haptic reaction for time based wearable technology
This is a research in collaboration with prof. Tan Hong at Microsoft Research Asia in haptic feedback.
